Glaucoma Competitivness?
Hey all, I’m a PGY2 resident looking into applying for Glaucoma fellowship and was wondering if anyone had insight into how competitive (specifically from a research standpoint) the field is. I’m at a mid-tier program and have minimal research (1 publication) at the moment. I’m working on a few projects which may or may not be published in the coming years, and just wanted to get some insight into others’ experiences. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How practical is it for a neurologist to practice ophthalmology?
How practical is it for a neurologist to practice ophthalmology in the office? Some neuro-ophthalmologists did their training as a neurologist then did a neuro-ophthalmology fellowship. This is not too unusual. What if a neurologist went even farther and practiced a mix of neuro-ophthalmology and office ophthalmology, like well controlled glaucoma, refraction, dry eye syndrome, etc. Perhaps someone with that training could be part of a practice of 2-3 ophthalmologists so that there would... BCSC Glaucoma 2021-2022 edition please
Does anyone have this volume (2021-2022 edition, which is the same as the 2020-2021 edition and the 2022-2023 edition)? I would like to see pages 137 and 171. I don't want to have the whole volume copied, just want to see those 2 pages. Possibly 7,000-15,000 ophthalmologists might also be interested in reading those two pages, too. Demand of various subspecialties
For those currently working, what is the demand for the various subspecialties? Throughout residency, I heard about the high demand for glaucoma but I'm curious if the landscape has shifted. I would love to hear answers from people in private practice and academics to get a broad perspective. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Top Glaucoma Fellowships
It has been a while since this topic came up and there isn't much of a definitive answer from searching. I'm curious in cultivating a list of the best glaucoma fellowships. Duke and Bascom are obviously the big two that come up. What other programs would you consider in the top 10 glaucoma fellowships? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is John Pinto's private practice lecture series still accurate?
Came across this series from 2017, and was honestly surprised at some of the numbers he listed for mid career salaries, found in the "contract negotiation" video. John Pinto's Ophthalmology Business Management Series J. Pinto & Associates, Inc. John Pinto is the country's most-published author on the subject of ophthalmic practice management. Mr. Pinto's Business Management Seminar is posted on EyeRounds with the very kind permission of John Pinto who reserves all rights to these works. webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu ...

Deciding between glaucoma/cornea
Hi everybody, I'm at something of a crossroads with regard to choosing a fellowship (cornea vs glaucoma), and hoping for advice / thoughts from those that have been through the process. For context: I'm about halfway through residency right now. I'll be applying for fellowships in about a year. I have a background in academic glaucoma, did a combined MD/PhD with my thesis on glaucoma, and have spent the better part of 7 years involved in high-impact glaucoma research, pubs, giving podium... Maintaining knowldge
Hey all, Ive been out of residency for a year, just working in the community, 15-20shifts a month- never had any issues. I started studying for oral boards and I realized I forgot medicine. I did not remember iron overdose is treated by deferoxamine or indications. Did not remember all the meds needed to be given in acute angle glaucoma...both of those easily looked up and helped with Poison Control/Optho. Am I a bad doctor? I went to a good residency, I feel more than prepared, this is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Your Eye Specialists Cornea, Refractive, and Glaucoma Fellowship
I wanted to post a review for Your Eye Specialists (YES) Cornea, Refractive, and Glaucoma Fellowship after I completed the fellowship a few weeks ago. It was an exceptional year with excellent surgical training and broad clinical pathology. You will spend most of your time with Drs. Aarup and Anup Kubal (brothers) and Dr. Anil Vedula. They are all fantastic surgeons, mentors, and friends. I not only learned a ton, but I really enjoyed working with them each day. They truly want you to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

No longer doing glaucoma surgery
Over the last few years, I've encountered a growing number of glaucoma fellowship-trained ophthalmologists wanting to stop doing glaucoma surgeries. As a non-surgeon, I will never fully understand this feeling but I get those patients are challenging in that nothing really ever gets better and they will always be with you. It seems ripe for burnout which is typically reported to me as to why these surgeons want to stop. For the glaucoma surgeons on her, what do you do to help stave off...
