Advanced Endoscopy Application - CV?
Apologies if there's been a thread about this recently. I took a cursory look through last year's advanced endoscopy application thread and it's mostly a list of invites. I'm currently a 2nd-year fellow at a large academic program with an in-house advanced endoscopy fellowship. As a first-year fellow, I was fairly certain I wanted to do general but very recently rotated on the advanced endoscopy service and loved it enough that I'm now kicking myself for not exploring the possibility of... Advanced IBD Fellowship
Currently a second year at a respectable state GI program debating doing an advanced fellowship in IBD as the impression I get from any academic center is that it is becoming the norm in order to specialize in IBD at an academic or even some pseudo-academic centers. Any idea how much advanced fellows are paid? I presume it can’t be just like a PGY-7 since in general they are staffing consult service, taking calls as an attending, and doing endoscopy independently, so are making the programs... MSUCOM-EL vs. KCU-Jopling
I have been blessed with multiple D.O. acceptances and I’ve narrowed it down to these two schools! I would OOS state for both as I am a Florida resident. I don’t know exactly what I want to do in terms of specialty but I am definitely leaning towards hands-on specialties such as surgery, or G.I. (specifically Neurogastro b/c of doing procedures like colonoscopy/endoscopies). With this being said I wrote this sporadically tired after work. There may be jumps and incomplete thoughts so I... what to look for in advanced endoscopy program
currently a second year fellow, preparing for advanced match next year. can you guys give pointers to what to look up in the respective programs when applying? My understanding is most programs(except few) require the advanced fellow to do EGD and colon 1 day a week, that will support their salary. My hope is get trained in ERCP, EUS, EMR, BE treatment, luminal stenting and possibly some intro to bariatric endoscopy(optional). Eventually plan to work in semi-academic environment. GI fast track and endoscopy competency
Hi I am a fourth year medical student applying to fast track positions. Do you think the 1 year of GI training is enough to become confident and well trained in EGD and colonoscopy? Do you think in that 1 year we would be able to achieve the 3 minute time to cecum without affecting our ADR? Have you had fast track colleagues who just don't match up to par clinically with people who go through the full 3 years of training, do these fast trackers eventually catch up clinically anyway? How... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

average RVU
Starting to get some term sheets, can be confusing. MGMA has 7800 RVUs as average for GI, how many patients per day scoping and clinic is that? Do advanced endoscopy make more or have different thresholds/payment model? Looking in the NYC area. Would also be nice to know range of average salary first few years vs after 5-10 years? What is typical pay per RVU in that area and is this typically negotiable? Thanks!! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advanced endoscopy job search
Currently finishing up my GI fellowship starting advanced endoscopy fellowship in July. My ideal job would be primarily advanced and semi academic. I know there are some places that are hospital employed positions, solely or primarily advanced, with some academic focus (teaching and research) Some general advice for job hunting for advanced jobs would be great. Specifically I was wondering 1. When to start looking for jobs 2. How I should go about reaching out to places. Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Time slots for endoscopy
What do you think is the ideal time slot for EGD’s and Colons. I’ve seen every procedure for 20 min, every procedure for 30 min, every procedure gets 40. I feel like 30 min slots are ideal. 20 min is a bit crazy and 40 min is excessive. Haven’t seen a place do different times for EGD Vs colon. What do you think and what has your experience been? Question about abstract and application?
Hey everyone, My PI recently had an abstract accepted to DDW, but I am not the presenting author as my PI is. However, I am most likely going to be listed as the first or second author, while the abstract will be published supplement to GIE: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. I was wondering if it would be okay to put this on my application for this upcoming cycle and if this would look good? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Muti disciplinary role?
I am a med student who did a elective rotation in GI. Loved the combination of procedures and cerebral thinking. But it seems In the actual world gi is mostly outpatient and tend to work independently in endoscopy centers with not much interaction with other specialities. How true is this? I really like inpatient gi where you consult and do procedures and make diagnosis no one has a clue of (Source: Student Doctor Network)
