After hitting “The Wall” a few weeks ago, I’ve been trying to conquer that long 50-mile weekend ride ever since. I’ve been plagued by problems with spokes and spikes. Three broken back spokes and a flat front tire from a spikey plant-pod called a goat head – all in the span of a couple of weeks.  It’s been very frustrating! But don’t worry! Diabetes has trained me well to roll with the punches! As soon as I get my wheel back from the repair shop, I’ll be back on the road again. #ScottsDeathRide – Week 3 wrap up
I joined a group from JDRF San Diego for a great group training ride this morning to finish off my third week of training for #ScottsDeathRide (100 miles in Death Valley this October with @erikdouds for JDRF – learn more and support us at https://diabadass.com/death-valley). I finished the week with 79.08 miles in the books (plus a handful of fun basketball sessions), and I’m feeling great!Coach Pat took us on a beautiful route that I really enjoyed! I attended my first JDRF TypeOneNation Summit since moving to San Diego and had SO MUCH FUN! My father-in-law and I spent countless hours watching boxing together over the past 20 years, so I was excited when I realized who walked in the room to kick things off. 39 years of living well with diabetes – celebrate with me!
Celebrate! You deserve it! Today is another special day for me! Thanks for joining me on this little celebration hike that I’m doing today. It’s a pretty special day for me. I am celebrating 39 years living well with diabetes, and I thought what better way to do that than to get out for a little hike.
