Macroscopic, Histologic and Clinical Assessment of Acute GVHD of the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract within 6 Weeks after Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation
Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (alloHCT) has been established as a standard of care for patients suffering from different disorders of the hematopoietic system. In many indications, the transfer of healthy donor cells represents the only chance for cure and improves survival chances significantly. Acute graft-versus-host-disease (aGVHD) is the main cause of morbidity and non-relapse mortality (NRM) following alloHCT(1). Early diagnosis of aGVHD is the main challenge during follow-up after alloHCT.
