ConclusionsStructural adaptation of the vasculature allows for increased blood flow to the collateral-dependent region after occlusion. Although flow is still below pre-occlusion levels, model predictions indicate that interventions which enhance collateral arteriogenesis would have the greatest potential for restoring flow.
