New Onset Depression Among Surgical Interns: An Alarming Challenge for the Surgical Workforce
Work environments can negatively impact professional productivity, satisfaction, and well-being. However, much less is known regarding the impact of the stressful work environment during surgical training on trainee mental health. We sought to quantify the incidence of new onset depression in a national cohort of surgical residents over the PGY-1 year.
