How important is good eyesight in a career as a medical doctor?

I was born with open angle congenital glaucoma and my vision is 20/60 in my right eye and 20/200 in my left corrected with glasses. What medical specialties would I be able to practice with this vision? If I were to become a physician of course. is general practice the only area I can do?

AbstractObjectivesTo investigate the safety and efficacy of glaucoma XEN stent implantation and examine the effect of undergoing combined phacoemulsification and XEN versus XEN implant alone.MethodsA retrospective case note review of patients who underwent XEN implantation by a single surgeon over a 24-month period was performed. Outcomes included changes in IOP and medication use after XEN implant insertion as well as complications post-surgery. Subgroup analysis was also performed, separating phaco-XEN (phacoemulsification and XEN implantation) and stand-alone XEN implantation.Results186 XEN implant procedures were inclu...

Drug Deliv. 2021 Dec;28(1):2177-2186. doi: 10.1080/10717544.2021.1989090.ABSTRACTAcetazolamide is the drug of choice for glaucoma treatment in an emergency. However, it is not available in any topical formulation and it is available only as systemic tablets. Despite its efficiency as a drug in decreasing intraocular pressure, it has negative systemic effects as renal toxicity and metabolic acidosis. Moreover, it suffers from poor aqueous solubility and low corneal permeability limiting its ocular bioavailability and its use topically. Cubosomes have enormous advantages as a drug delivery system, most importantly, high surf...

The objective of this literature review is to provide a synthesis of knowledge on the roles and mechanisms of inflammation in both the healthy and glaucomatous trabecular meshwork, as well as its role in the pathophysiology of glaucoma. Therefore, after a review of the mechanisms of cellular senescence and oxidative stress - sources of trabecular inflammation, we will approach the study of the expression and roles of the main inflammatory mediators within the trabecular meshwork. Finally, we will discuss current knowledge on the toxicity of glaucoma eye drops and their preservatives on the ocular surface and trabecular mes...

All participants underwent visual field (VF) testing (standard automated perimetry, SAP), color fundus imaging (mydriatic retinography), and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (pRNFL) assessment th...
