Factors influencing on development of COVID-19 pneumonia and association with oral anti-diabetic drugs in hospitalized patients with diabetes mellitus

Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are susceptible to various infections and sepsis [1]. Clinical experiences showed that the susceptibility is associated with fatal infections and adverse clinical outcomes due to factors including severe activation of pro-inflammatory cascade, impaired immune response and cellular dysfunction resulting from metabolic disorders and hyperglycemia [2,3,4].
