As a common form of malformation of cortical development, focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is one of the major etiologies of drug-resistant focal epilepsy and a common pathological finding in those who underwent resective epilepsy surgery [1-4]. It has been proven that drug-resistant focal epilepsy is associated with a pronounced reduction in quality of life, education, and employment prospects. Although the incidence of drug-resistance is high in epilepsy caused by FCD, a minority of those epileptic patients are reported to be responsive to antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) for a prolonged period of time or even life-long [5].
