Adolescents ’ Digital Technology Interactions and Importance: Associations With Demographics and Social Media Frequency

Technology use is nearly ubiquitous and highly important to today ’s adolescents. The majority of adolescents engage with digital media, approximately 45% of adolescents describe that they are ‘almost constantly’ connected.(1) Understanding patterns of technology use is critical towards determining technology interactions that may be beneficial or harmful to adolescents. However, measuring individual adolescent’s technology use is challenging. Most studies have focused on technology assessments using self-reported(2) or passively observed(3) frequency of use.
