Comment on: Enhanced recovery after surgery for sleeve gastrectomies: improved patient outcomes

Bariatric surgery is the most effective treatment for morbid obesity resulting in pronounced and sustained weight loss as well as improvement or resolution of obesity-associated co-morbidities, in particular cardiometabolic disease including type 2 diabetes (T2D). Accordingly, the worldwide number of bariatric surgical procedures has increased during the last decades, approaching 700,000 in year 2018 [1].
