Id: 3521859 optimal diagnostic imaging strategy for patients with intermediate probability for choledocholithiasis: a cost-effectiveness analysis

For patients with cholelithiasis with intermediate probability for choledocholithiasis, various confirmatory imaging studies including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), and intraoperative cholangiogram (IOC) are advocated by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, instead of diagnostic endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). While local expertise will affect the choice of one confirmatory imaging study over another, there is limited information available regarding the most cost-effective approach.
