Long-term Effectiveness of Population-wide Multifaceted Interventions for Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Taiwan
A series of population-wide interventions on hepatocellular carcinoma related to hepatitis B and C virus infection have been launched in Taiwan since 1984, including universal hepatitis B vaccination program from 1984, universal health care from 1995, and national viral hepatitis therapy program from 2004. Here, we assessed relative contributions to long-term mortality reduction between incidence reduction and the improvement of case-fatality rate attributed to each intervention program focusing on multiple stages of HCC evolution by using mortality rate decomposition method with the Bayesian Poisson regression model.
