Lymphatic drainage of lung cancer follows an intersegmental pathway within the visceral pleura

The standard treatment for early-stage lung cancer is surgery, consisting of an anatomical pulmonary resection with systematic lymph-node dissection. Generally, a lobar surgical resection is performed, although the possibility of a segmentectomy is also possible for stage I non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), especially for peripheral tumors
