3D Printing Innovation: New Insights into Upper Extremity Surgery Planning.

Surgical procedures in trauma and orthopaedics rely especially on the images obtained by plain radiographs, computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Using these images, orthopaedic surgeons can preoperatively trace the anatomy of patients and develop a detailed action plan before proceeding with the actual surgery. This reduces uncertainty and anticipates possible complications. Therefore, preoperative planning is an essential aspect of surgery success.
