Comments from the new editors. Am J Orthopsychiatry. 2015 Jan;85(1):1-2 Authors: McLeigh JD, Spaulding WD Abstract This editorial provides comments from the new editors of the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry (AJO). In the previous issue of the journal, former editors highlighted some of the changes that have occurred over the last several years. AJO will continue its bimonthly production schedule in 2015. In the fall, however, AJO subscribers will receive two special issues that include The Community articles. Each issue will be organized around a theme. One issue will focus on the dramatic generational changes our society is experiencing. It will focus on the ways in which these changes manifest themselves in the mental health needs of the younger generation and strategies for making settings and communities psychologically healthier and more responsive to the needs of people in their current contexts. The second issue will include articles that revision youth as having responsibilities in schools, families, and communities instead of perpetrators of violence and in need of discipline and control. These articles will identify conditions and changes that need to occur in families, schools, and communities to sustain positive youth development and promote resilience.
