Synovial chondromatosis of temporomandibular joint. technical details of the artrhoscopic management
Synovial chondromatosis (SC) is a rare and benign joint disorder characterized by the metaplasia of the synovial membrane associated with the formation of cartilaginous nodules within the subsynovial connective tissue. The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is rarely affected1,2 Historically, arthrotomy has been the gold standard for SC treatment.3 In the last decades, arthroscopy has increased its popularity as isolated approach or in combination with arthrotomy.4,5
