FDA Approves Two Medications to Treat HIV Infection: Evotaz and Prezcobix

On January 29, 2015, FDA sent e-mails noting the approval of two HIV medications to treat HIV infection:   "On January 29, 2015, FDA approved Evotaz, a fixed dose combination tablet containing 300 mg of atazanavir and 150 mg of cobicistat. Evotaz is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of … human immunodeficiency virus (HIV 1) infection in adults."   "On January 29, 2015, FDA approved Prezcobix a fixed dose combination tablet containing 800 mg of darunavir and 150 mg of cobicistat.   "Prezcobix is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV 1) infection in treatment-naïve and treatment-experienced adults with no darunavir resistance-associated substitutions (V11I, V32I, L33F, I47V, I50V, I54L, I54M, T74P, L76V, I84V, L89V)."   The labeling for both drugs will be available soon at the FDA website.
