Robotic Urology: Remember the Future

My favorite line from my favorite play, Camelot, is when King Arthur says of his friend, Merlin, the magician, “He remembers the future.” Doctors Jim Hu and Jonathan Shoag have assembled an array of urologic Merlins in this issue of Urologic Clinics devoted to Robotic Urology: The Next Frontier. It is wise to recognize that urologic robotic surgery is not a finished product; it is kinetic, a work in prog ress, if you will. Recently I wrote, “Relentlessly Make Yourself Obsolete.”1 I think that phrase captures the quiddity of urology in general and robotic urology in particular.
