17.5 what is a partial hospital program? results of a national survey

As psychiatric hospitalization lengths of stay are getting shorter, creation of intermediate levels of care for the children and adolescents who are seriously ill is necessary. One such alternative is the partial hospital program (PHP). There is great variability in programming and not a unifying guideline for such a level of service. To provide quality, evidence-based care guidelines need to be set. Results of a national survey will guide participants to conceptualize the PHP as an important component of the continuum of care.
