Headless compression screw fixation of Jones fractures: a clinical and radiographic comparison study

Conclusions: Factors significantly correlated with failure were age, diabetes, and body mass index, without significant correlation with tobacco or gender. No differences were found between zone II and III fractures. The two groups had similar clinical and radiographic results, both with high union rates. The 21% failure rate with partially threaded screws is concerning and may warrant further investigation. This supports the headless compression screw as a viable Jones fracture treatment. Level of Clinical Evidence: Level III.
