Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the hair follicle in the apocrine gland-bearing regions. Although HS is not primarily caused by bacterial infection, antibiotics represent the first line treatment in the management of HS primarily for their anti-inflammatory properties, with additional contributions via antimicrobial and immunomodulatory effects.
