Letter to the Editor on “In the Era of Tranexamic Acid, Are Type and Screens for Primary Total Joint Arthroplasty Obsolete?”

We read with much interest the article entitled “In the Era of Tranexamic Acid, Are Type and Screens for Primary Total Joint Arthroplasty Obsolete?” by Vestermark et al, (2020), doi: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.arth.2020.04.056 (in Press) published online on April 25, 2020 [1]. First, we would like to congratulate the authors for writing an inf ormative article with novelty. The purpose of this study was to determine if deleting type and screens from preoperative order sets was safe for patients undergoing primary TKA and THA and to identify patients who required allogenic blood transfusion.
