An unusual case of cervical sialocele after trauma in the parotid gland
AbstractSalivary gland trauma is uncommon and injuries to parotid duct are no easily diagnosed. Occasionally, these mechanisms may cause damage to the parotid duct and/or parenchyma, favoring the accumulation of salivary secretion in the adjacent soft tissue, in a process known as sialocele or salivary pseudocyst1. Sialocele is characterized by asymptomatic soft mobile swelling, and fluctuant, which, if left untreated, may rupture and evolve into a salivary fistula2. Diagnosis is made by fine ‐needle aspiration cytology, sialography, contrast CT, and MRI1,2.
