Silicone Tubes With Thyroid Hormone ( Τ3) and BDNF as an Alternative to Autografts for Bridging Neural Defects

In open wounds a peripheral nerve may be damaged and part of it can be defective. When tension-free suturing is not possible, then the nerve tissue defect is bridged with a graft that acts as a conduit for regenerating the nerve axons while providing the necessary components for the nerve regeneration process [1]. In clinical practice, autologous nerve transplantation is considered to be the main method of bridging neural defects. The neural grafting method has some disadvantages, most notably the morbidity of the donor area and the need for more than one operation.
