Abstract Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease is an autosomal dominant inherited tumor syndrome. Clear cell chondrosarcoma (CCCS) is a rare variant of chondrosarcoma. Here, we report a case of CCCS in the talus occurring in a patient with VHL disease. A 32-year-old man presented with ankle pain for 2 years. MRI revealed a 4.2 cm mass in the talus, and needle biopsy was performed. The patient underwent curettage but the final diagnosis was CCCS. Adjuvant radiation therapy was performed without additional talectomy and the patient was alive without recurrence for a follow-up period of 2 years. To our knowledge, this is t...

Conclusion Various skull base tumors involving MCF with extension to adjacent sites can be successfully resected using the TZ-MCF approach in a multidisciplinary fashion. This approach yields optimal exposure and permits excellent tumor control with acceptable CN and neurological morbidity. This study aimed to perform a time ‐lapse analysis of tumor response in patients with STS treated with trabectedin from 2 phase II clinical trials. We examined 66 patients with translocation ‐related sarcoma registered in 2 Japanese phase II clinical trials. All patients previously received standard therapy before the administration of trabectedin at 1.2 mg/m2 every 3  weeks. Imaging evaluation was performed according to the study protocol. The sum of the maximum diameters of the target lesions was calculated and analyzed over time.Among the 66 patients, 9 (13.6%) showed partial response (PR) to trabectedin. H...

ConclusionsThe emerging use of CIRT to treat skull base chordomas and chondrosarcomas appear promising with regard to tumor control, overall survival, and risk profile of early and late toxicity. The current literature suffers from the fact only a few centers in the world currently employ this technology.

Conclusion and significance: The diagnostic process is challenging and in some cases of extremely long duration without effect on mortality. The symptom duration and time to diagnosis in relation to mortality and risk of recurrence has not previously been described. Early biopsy, better imaging and advanced pathological techniques can hopefully speed up the diagnostic process and reduce morbidity and mortality. PMID: 32186247 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We report two cases of tracheal chondrosarcoma describing the role of surgical and conservative treatment. Endoscopic treatment with rigid bronchoscopy was performed in both patients to restore airway patency and obtain histological specimens for diagnosis. One of the patients subsequently underwent successful tracheal resection and reconstruction. The other patient, who had a contraindication to surgical treatment due to associated diseases underwent iterative endoscopic LASER treatment and is alive three years after the first diagnosis. Surgical treatment remains the treatment of choice of tracheal chondrosarcoma. When s...
