Paying attention to complaints can protect nurses from violence

(University of British Columbia) New UBC research shows, for the first time, a clear link between patient complaints and violence towards nurses. When nurses are overworked, they often cannot provide the high level of care they want to. This may lead to complaints from patients and their families, which can escalate into violence if not addressed. By addressing these complaints and reducing workload pressures, health care organizations could improve the wellbeing of their patients, patients' families, and employees.
