Merck Innovative Ophthalmology Research Awards The ARVO Foundation is pleased to offer this series of biennial awards. The Merck Innovative Ophthalmology Research Awards (IORA) encourages young researchers to undertake investigative work in critical areas of ophthalmology that may one day lead to meaningful improvements in patients' lives. It is open to researchers aged 45 years or younger who hold an MD, a PhD or an equivalent doctoral level degree. A first place prize of $15,000 and two second place prizes of $10,000 will be awarded in each of two categories for a total of $70,000 in awards.
