Acad Emerg Med. 2020 Feb 06;: Authors: Morgenstern J, Heitz C, Bond C, Milne WK Abstract Elderly patients frequently present to the emergency department with nonspecific complaints and it falls to the emergency physicians to determine whether a workup for acute coronary syndrome is warranted. We discuss a study by Wang et al published in Academic Emergency Medicine, January 2020, looking at the value of troponin testing in elderly patients presenting to the emergency department with nonspecific complaints. We provide critical analysis of the article, and summarize the social media discussion and a podcast in which the authors discuss their work. PMID: 32027434 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
