An Abundance of Studies But Dearth of Evidence regarding Endometriosis and Adenomyosis

Search for academic articles titled “Endometriosis” on PubMed and you will note a topical problem: with over 27 000 hits, 16 000 of these in the last 10 years, there is a rate of just over 4 articles a day. So why do we still know so little about endometriosis when so much is being said? Scanning some of these documents reveal ed that the words “enigmatic,” “complex,” “variable,” and “troublesome” frequently appear and point us to the difficulties in diagnosing and managing this disease that has a 10% prevalence [1].
