CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: The paradox conceptually challenges some of the core values inherent in occupational therapy regarding the relationship between engaging occupations, health and well-being. Gaining a deeper understanding of experiences of occupations and studying this in relation to health promoting or compromising characteristics of occupations, can facilitate lifestyle programs that support changes in everyday life. Moreover, programs need to be designed to offer personal relevance and to facilitate a positive balance between health compromising occupations and health promoting occupations in everyday life. ...

CONCLUSIONS: Screening employs non-standardised assessments and rarely covers higher visual perceptual deficits. We demonstrates the need for an evidence-based visual perception screen, which should ideally be 15 min or less, be portable, and require minimal equipment. The screen should be suitable for bedside testing and aphasia-friendly. Implications for rehabilitation There is a high demand for training on what visual perception deficits are and how to screen for them. Building local relationships between orthoptists and occupational therapists is perceived as highly beneficial for providing good vision and visua...

In this study, we used the Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment (LOTCA) to evaluate the characteristics of non-linguistic cognitive impairments in Chinese PSA patients. Methods: A total of 86 stroke patients were recruited in this study. Language and non-linguistic cognitive impairments were evaluated by the Western Aphasia Battery (WAB) and LOTCA, respectively. The patients were divided into two groups (PSA and non-PSA), and the Chinese norm (the data came from 44 Chinese individuals without neurological disorders in a previous study) was used as the control group. The LOTCA scores were compared among the ...

h W Abstract Tetra-amelia is extremely rare with an incidence of 2.4 per 10,000,000 births. It describes the absence of all 4 outer extremities and can be associated with other malformations. The boy presented here was diagnosed at 22 1/7 weeks of gestation by sonography in 2D and 3D mode. The parents decided to continue the pregnancy; vaginal birth occurred after external rotation at 38 1/7 weeks of pregnancy. Postnatally, surgical closure of a cleft of the soft palate was performed. External abnormalities manifested themselves increasingly in the area of the spine and the face. The anatomically limited psychomot...
