Cutting The Gordian Knot Of Abdominal Aneurysm Hostile Neck Definitions With The Ovation Stent-Graft

We were pleased to read the interesting paper by Mufty et al. regarding their mid- and long-term results of the Ovation stent-graft system applied in 74 patients with Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms (AAA).1 Among their findings, the Authors report a relatively lower incidence of initial technical success (91.9%), attributing this to the high percentage of challenging AAA necks.1 The Authors report an 83.8% of hostile necks with respect to neck calcification (59%), circular or semicircular thrombus (12% and 27%, respectively), reverse-tapered neck morphology (24%) and combination of at least 2 factors in some cases.
