Characteristics of non-mature but functional autogenous radiocephalic fistulas in hemodialysis patients: A prospective cohort study.

CONCLUSION: The baseline diameter of the cephalic vein was the only predictor of arteriovenous fistula maturation based on the pre-operative ultrasound measurements in Chinese hemodialysis patients. PMID: 31884877 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSION: Cannulation trauma at the initiation of haemodialysis could potentially be reduced with a strategy of incremental haemodialysis using single-needle treatment supported with duplex ultrasonography assessment to 'map' the vascular access as a guide for clinicians prior to cannulation initiation. ConclusionPreviously dialysis was standard, currently it is oriented by efficiency criteria. The ascension of the PA paralyzial is a paradox and several factors are incriminated: water overload, fast UF, short sessions, arterial rigidity, anemia. The use of an ideal dry weight and long hemodialysis allows a Significant improvement in blood pressure control through better control of extracellular volume (ECV). In addition, there is a lack of morbidity and mortality studies among dialysis patients as well as a clear definition of blood pressure targets in this group of patients forgotten by the studies.

ConclusionsUsing modern-day techniques, the incidence of mechanical complications during placement of tunneled catheters can be diminished. Hence, routine use of ultrasound guidance for insertion of tunneled dialysis catheters should become the standard of care.

Abstract An 87-year-old man with diabetes mellitus was admitted to control recurrent bleeding from hemodialysis puncture sites. He was a smoker and had been diagnosed with arteriosclerosis obliterans. His PT and APTT were markedly prolonged, and all coagulation factors were markedly decreased (factor V [FV] activity

Conclusion: The surveillance method to measure access flow through USS showed a significant benefit for reducing thrombosis in AVFs. The result encourages adherence to the current guidelines for AVFs. However, no benefit was found regarding AVGs. Recent guidelines with a “one-size-fits-all” approach may be revised to a “tailored-to-risk” approach.

Exp Clin Endocrinol Diabetes DOI: 10.1055/s-0043-123184 Introduction Endocrine disorders of the pituitary axes are frequent in patients with hemodialysis (CKD5D). The aim of this multicenter study (Leipzig (L), Quedlinburg and Blankenburg in the Harz region (Hz)) in CKD5D patients was to evaluate influences of CKD5D related factors, morphological and biochemical parameters, and serum iodine and prolactin concentrations on the pituitary-thyroid axis. Patients and Methods 170 patients (L n=58; Hz n=112) were included in this prospective, non-interventional, cross-sectional study. Mann-Whitney-U-test and bivariate correlation...

ConclusionComposite calcification score emerged as significant predictors of long-term survival in our group of largely non-diabetic dialysis patient population, finding that should be confirmed by intervention studies.
