Family-Centered Primary Care for Teen Parents and Their Children

Teen parents and their children are a vulnerable group of families, but their vulnerabilities have received far more attention than their strengths and resilience, which is defined as the ability to cope with adversity (Hornor, 2017). Teen mothers and fathers alike report that parenting reorders their priorities and motivates them to improve their education, be good parents, and desist from risky behavior such as fighting, substance abuse, and criminal activity (Conn, de Figueiredo, Sherer, Mankerian,& Iverson, 2018; SmithBattle, 2018b; SmithBattle, Phengnum, Shagavah,& Okawa, 2019).
