Intractable Hiccup Due to Giant Hydronephrosis: A Rare Case Report and Literature Review

ConclusionGiant hydronephrosis can present rare symptoms as “intractable hiccups”. The selection of treatment should be made depending on the cause.

The applicability of six mathematical models (parabolic diffusion, power law, Weibull’s equation, Elovich’s equation, second order rate, two- site kinetic models) to describe the kinetics of the conventional (CSLE) and ultrasound assistant extraction (UAE) of polyphenols (TPC) from fresh and distilled grape marc and its components, seeds and skins, after removal of non-polar compounds was studied. The best e...

I was recently hired as a consultant to review claims for services provided by about 2 dozen DPMs. The fraud and the abuse are staggering. Most of those involved are young associates in private practices. The practice owners impressed these associates with how much money they can make if they bill as instructed. I have reviewed cases for an initial visit with unilateral heel pain. The patient ended up with BILATERAL xrays, ultrasound and fluoroscopy all for “comparison”. Patients... Fraud

Publication date: April 2020Source: Materials Science in Semiconductor Processing, Volume 109Author(s): Y.E. FiratAbstractThe uniform aluminum-doped nickel oxide (Al:NiO) thin films were fabricated on indium tin oxide (ITO) by an efficient route of galvanostatic mode together with the help of conventional electrochemical methods. The cathodic deposition current densities were increased from 4 mA cm−2 to 7 mA cm−2 by a step of 1 mA cm−2 for the growth time of 30 s. The produced films were annealed in air at 400 °C for 1 h. The effect of deposition curre...

AbstractSummaryLumbar spine volumetric bone mineral density (BMD) measured using quantitative computed tomography (QCT) can discriminate between postmenopausal women with low areal BMD with and without vertebral fractures. QCT provides a 3D measure of BMD, excludes the vertebral posterior elements and accounts for bone size. This knowledge could contribute to effective treatment targeting of patients with low BMD.IntroductionWe evaluated the ability of lumbar spine bone mineral apparent density (BMAD), trabecular bone score (TBS) and volumetric bone mineral density (vBMD) to discriminate between postmenopausal women with l...

AbstractDiverticulitis is a common disease in western countries, and its incidence is likely expected to increase over years. The burden of diverticular disease on health systems and resources utilization cannot be underestimated, given the high prevalence of diverticulosis and the rate of patients requiring hospitalization and/or surgery. Minimally invasive colorectal surgery can guarantee several benefits over traditional open surgery, even more prominently in the emergency settings. However, there is moderate to low agreement regarding the use of a minimally invasive approach in patients with perforated diverticular dis...

Inflamm-aging in the senior horse has been characterized by increased circulating inflammatory cytokines as well as increased inflammatory cytokine production by lymphocytes and monocytes in resp...

Alignment of a crystal with the coordinate system of a scanning electron microscope (SEM) is essential for obtaining controlled diffraction conditions or investigating anisotropic material properties. The computer program crystalAligner was developed to enable the weighted constrained alignment of one or two crystal directions in crystals of arbitrary orientation and structure with the coordinate system of a SEM. For a given set of crystal directions, alignment objectives and rotational constraints, the algorithm simulates the rotation of the crystal on any constrained SEM stage and minimizes the misalignment of the crysta...

Multi-wavelength (mw) Bragg coherent X-ray diffraction imaging (BCDI) is demonstrated on a single Au particle. The multi-wavelength Bragg diffraction patterns are inverted using conventional phase-retrieval algorithms where the dilation of the effective pixel size of a pixelated 2D detector caused by the variation of the X-ray beam energy is mitigated by interpolating the raw data. The reconstructed Bragg electron density and phase field are in excellent agreement with the results obtained from conventional rocking scans of the same particle. Voxel sizes of about 63   nm3 are obtained for reconstructions from both approa...
