Psychological inflexibility and clinical impact: Adaptation of the acceptance and action questionnaire-II in a sample of patients on haemodialysis treatment.

CONCLUSIONS: The adaptation of the AAQ-II questionnaire to the HD context led to a valid and reliable measurement of PI in these types of patients and our results also seem to support the relationship between PI and health and quality of life parameters in patients with chronic conditions.

ConclusionsThis study reveals that TAFRO syndrome is more severe and has more systemic symptoms than other iMCD, most cases need active treatment, and their prognoses are poor. Lenalidomide based regimen may be as a promising new therapy for TAFRO syndrome.

AbstractAn 84-year-old woman with a history of haemodialysis for renal failure from approximately 1  year before death. Autopsy revealed numerous spheroid-type amyloid deposits in the kidney that were observed mainly in the interstitium but not the glomeruli and vessels. In addition, intracytoplasmic small globular amyloid deposits in the proximal tubules in addition to amyloid casts were identif ied. Immunohistochemistry and proteomic analyses indicated these deposits were composed of λ light chains. Amyloid deposition was also found in the lung and heart. λ-type monoclonal protein was detected in her s...

Authors: Wang Z, Gong Y, Fan F, Yang F, Qiu L, Hong T, Huo Y Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the optimal revascularization strategy for patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD) in the drug-eluting stent (DES) era. Methods: One hundred and twelve patients with ESRD treated with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) were enrolled from 2007 to 2017. All patients were dialysis-dependent, of which 26 received CABG and 86 underwent PCI. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality. Secondary endpoints were major adverse cardiovascular even...

CONCLUSION: Our review found higher mortality from MALA than seen in recent studies. This may be due to variation in standard medical practice both geographically and across the study interval, sample size, misidentification of MALA for another disease process and vice versa, confounding by selection and reporting biases, and treatment intensity (e.g., hemodialysis) influenced by degree of pH and lactate derangement. The ROC curves showed poor predictive power of either lactate or pH for mortality in MALA. With the exception of patients with acute metformin overdose, patients with MALA usually have coexisting precipitating...

AbstractPurposeWe evaluated whether longer term hemodialysis (HD) is associated with a higher incidence of vasoplegic syndrome (VS) after cardiac surgery.MethodsThis retrospective, single-center cohort study included 562 consecutive patients who underwent cardiac surgery in a tertiary hospital from January 2015 to December 2016. We assessed VS occurrence and its relationship with HD duration and other risk factors. To assess the effect of the HD duration on VS occurrence, we constructed ordinal variables: HD  = 0 (non-HD), 0

ConclusionIn a real-life scenario, HCV seroconversion is observed in 15% of the patients initiated on hemodialysis. Isolation of both dialysis machine and personnel was associated with lower seroconversion.

Authors: Sarioglu O, Capar AE, Belet U Abstract BACKGROUND: The platelet-lymphocyte ratio, which was reported to have a strong relationship with chronic inflammation and thrombosis, is a useful biomarker. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the platelet-lymphocyte ratio, arteriovenous stenosis, and thrombosis in patients with chronic renal failure. METHODS: Patients who were referred to our interventional radiology department due to arteriovenous fistula dysfunction from dialysis units between August 2015 and December 2018 were retrospectively reviewed. In the study, 95 patients w...
