CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that PIP5K1A and PIP5K1C could be target proteins for modulating MRP2 function, partly because of the resulting changes of the linker function of radixin. PMID: 31804920 [PubMed - in process]

ThuluvathAbstractThe use of immunotherapy in transplant recipients is considered a contraindication because of very high risks for graft loss. The graft loss is to be expected since cytotoxic T-lymphocyte associated protein-4 (CTLA-4) and PD-1 pathways are implicated in graft tolerance. In this case report, we describe a woman with recurrent, disseminated hepatocellular carcinoma who was successfully treated with nivolumab, an immune checkpoint inhibitor.

This dose-response analysis was performed to investigate the association between aspirin use and risk of HCC. A systematic search was conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed, SCOPU...

Conclusion Patients with low basal albumin-bilirubin grade and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio survive longer after transarterial radioembolization for unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma. Presence of extrahepatic metastases and portal venous thrombosis seems to have a prognostic value.

Authors: Carmona S, Brunel JM, Bonier R, Sbarra V, Robert S, Borentain P, Lombardo D, Mas E, Gerolami R Abstract NV669 is an aminosterol derived from squalamine found to possess strong anticancer effects. The aim of this study was to investigate NV669's beneficial effects on human pancreatic and hepatic cancer models and to decipher the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in tumor growth decrease upon treatment with NV669. Pancreatic (BxPC3, MiaPaCa-2) and hepatic (HepG2, Huh7) cancer cells were treated with NV669, and the effects recorded on proliferation, cell cycle and death. Results showed that NV669 inh...

In this study, we used data mining techniques to search for subtypes in an unbiased fashion. Using electronic signatures of the disease, we identified a cohort of 13,290 patients with NAFLD from a hospital database. We gathered clinical data from multiple sources and applied unsupervised clustering to identify five subtypes among this cohort. Descriptive statistics and survival analysis showed that the subtypes were clinically distinct and were associated with different rates of death, cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, chronic kidney disease, cardiovascular disease, and myocardial infarction. Novel disease subtypes iden...

Authors: Chen S, Ji R, Shi X, Wang Z, Zhu D Abstract The aim of our study was to assess the efficacy, safety, and prognostic factors of drug-eluting bead transarterial chemoembolization (DEB-TACE) in Chinese hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Patients (n=102) diagnosed as primary HCC were consecutively enrolled in this retrospective cohort study. Treatment responses were assessed following the modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors. Progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were evaluated, and adverse events (AEs) as well as liver function-related laboratory indexes of all DEB-T...
