Simon Bolivar Award

Simon Bolivar Award The Simon Bolivar Award was established in 1975 to honor a prominent advocate for Hispanics; designed to sensitize the American Psychiatric Association membership to the mental health problems and goals of Hispanics. Prize The award recipient receives a plaque and a $500 honorarium upon presentation of the award lecture at the APA Annual Meeting. Eligibility Nominees for the award must be of Hispanic descent. Submission Requirements A nomination consists of a letter summarizing how and why the nominee is deserving of the award, a one-page biographical sketch of the nominee, and the nominee’s curriculum vitae. Nominations must be submitted electronically at diversityatapa@psych.org. Deadline: June 1 Selection Selection is made by a work group of the APA Council on Minority Mental Health and Mental Health Disparities consisting of a representative from the Council and the officers of the Caucus of Hispanic Psychiatrists.
