Transgender 201: advanced practice in the care of gender-diverse youth
This Extended Workshop offers providers with an interest in the care of gender-diverse/transgender or gender-nonconforming (TGNC) youth the opportunity to: 1) improve competence in working clinically with patients with diverse presentations, including different ages, complicated family structures and support systems, diverse ethnic backgrounds and belief systems, and/or co-occurring mental illnesses; 2) learn and practice different psychotherapeutic approaches to gender-diverse/TGNC patients, including trauma-informed interventions, CBT, family therapy, and strengths-focused resilience skills building; and 3) expand clinical skills and knowledge by navigating complex cases with experts in the field who are familiar with published data, standards of care, and common clinical practices.
