3.13 child psychiatry consultation to pediatric primary care in urban settings with greater resource density

More than 30 states now have mental health access projects (MAP) for pediatrics, because primary care providers (PCPs) often address mental health (MH) needs despite limits in training, confidence, and available MH resources. Many of these programs provide support in underserved or rural areas, and stratification by type of setting has not been described. The District of Columbia ’s mental health access program (DC MAP) provides PCPs rapid phone support from MH professionals to assist with the diagnosis, management, and identification of viable MH resources.
