A Gentle Introduction to Mediation and Moderation
In this volume of The Journal, Glick et al examine whether the effect of parental health literacy and discharge plan complexity on adherence is mediated by errors in the comprehension of discharge instructions.1 Simply put, the authors wish to know whether comprehension errors are part of the mechanism by which health literacy and disch arge plan complexity effect adherence. In addition, they examine whether the effect of discharge plan complexity on comprehension errors is moderated by parental health literacy.
