[Chondrocalcinosis: idiopathic or manifestation of rare metabolic diseases?] Orthopade. 2019 Sep 12;: Authors: Knitza J, Kleyer A, Schett G, Manger B Abstract Calcification in hyaline and fibrocartilage is caused by the deposition of calcium pyrophosphate dehydrate, commonly referred to as chondrocalcinosis. Clinically, this can lead to arthritis symptoms similar to a gout attack -"pseudogout". Nonetheless, also chronic or asymptomatic disease courses are possible. The prevalence of chondrocalcinosis increases with age. The diagnostic workup of degenerative joint disease, therefore, often reveals calcifications of articular cartilage as harmless incidental findings. However, particularly in patients younger than 60 years of age, chondrocalcinosis can be the symptom of an underlying metabolic disease. There are wide differences in the allelic frequencies, Lp(a) levels, and the association with AVC among ethnic groups. The aim of this study was to determine the association of the LPA gene polymorphisms with Lp(a) levels and risk of developing AVC, in Mexican-Mestizos population. Abstract Vigna mungo L. seed coat is an agro by-product, available in substantial quantity, with no clear evidence to prove its economic importance. In the present study, the phytochemicals, proximate content, minerals and in vitro antioxidant activities of aqueous (AE), ethanol (EE) and 80% ethanolic extract (80% EE) of Vigna mungo L. seed coat were determined.
