Clinically significant incidental teledermatology findings in patients with a history of skin cancer

In the store-and-forward teledermatology model, patients are referred by primary care providers and receive high quality imaging of their skin complaint. In this process, skin surrounding the lesion is imaged as a byproduct. Little data exists regarding the prevalence of incidental lesions found by the consultant dermatologist beyond the reason for consult captured during the teledermatology process. We sought to evaluate incidental lesions as well as factors associated with higher likelihood of lesion discovery.
