Effective Leukemia Drugs Too Expensive, Desperate Patients Left Untreated

Eleven of the 12 drugs approved for treating chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and some other cancers cost over $100,000 per year, leaving many desperate patients either untreated or under-treated because they simply cannot afford care, nearly 120 CML experts from over 15 countries reported today in the journal Blood. The authors describe the cost of chronic myeloid leukemia drug treatments as having reached "unsustainably high levels".
