Vertebrobasilar Artery Calcification: Prevalence And Risk Factors In The General Population

Background and Aims: Posterior circulation stroke accounts for approximately one-quarter of all ischaemic strokes and could be attributed to atherosclerotic disease in the vertebrobasilar arteries. Interestingly, little is known on the prevalence and risk factors of vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis. We aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of vertebrobasilar artery calcification (VBAC) as a proxy of vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis.
