CONCLUSIONS: MetS and RAS damage mitochondria in pig renal artery ECs, which may impair EC function. However, coexisting MetS and RAS did not aggravate EC mitochondrial injury and dysfunction in the short time of our in-vivo studies. Loneliness is common in schizophrenia with prevalence estimates as high as 80% among people with schizophrenia. Recent studies among non-psychiatric samples have indicated deleterious effects of loneliness on physical health and mortality, including increased risk of hypertension, central obesity, metabolic syndrome, coronary heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular disorders. The all-cause mortality risk of loneliness is double that from obesity and equivalent to that from smoking ¾ of a pack of cigarettes per day.
