Shelf acetabuloplasty continues to be effective in the prevention or delay of osteoarthritis in adolescent dysplastic hips. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and to determine the correct level of the bone graft objectively. We retrospectively analyzed 16 hips underwent Shelf acetabuloplasty originated by Spitzy. The mean age at surgery was 15.3 years old with the mean caput index at 39.7%. The average follow-up was 11 years. The radiological evaluation was based on acetabular-head index (AHI) at preoperative and latest radiographs, acetabular-Shelf distance (ASD) and Shelf-head ratio at immediate postoperative and latest r...

Conclusions: Through this systemic review and meta-analysis, no significant difference was found with regards to fusion rate, postoperative NDI, and VAS between tantalum fusion and iliac crest bone graft in ACDF. More longer-term and randomized studies with large samples are warranted to validate any association found in this study. Level of Evidence: Level II.

AbstractIntroductionResults of iterative ACL reconstructions are lower than after primary reconstructions. Our aim was to report the results of a retrospective series of revision using pedicled quadruple hamstring autograft. The hypothesis was that the results were satisfactory and comparable to the literature.MethodsThe study period was from January 2012 to December 2014. Fourteen patients (average age 26) were included. A fascia lata graft was used 12 times for primary reconstruction. Trauma was the cause of failure 12 times. The time interval between primary reconstruction and revision was 6.2  years. Preoperative ...

Abstract Bone regeneration around newly implanted biomaterials is a complex process, which in its early phases involves the interactions between Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) and immune cells. The response of these cells to the biomaterial depends both on the local microenvironment and on the characteristics of the inserted bone substitute. In this work, bone allografts impregnated with albumin are loaded with a co-culture of human MSCs and monocytes; bone granules without albumin are used for comparison. Co-cultures are contextually treated with pro-inflammatory cytokines to simulate the inflammatory milieu natur...
