This study investigates potential causes of the decreased disease activity by analysing fatty acid composition in erythrocytes and plasma phospholipids and serum metabolites in the participants of the MIRA trial. Twenty-three women completed the randomized 2 × 11-week cross-over dietary intervention, exchanging one cooked meal per day, five days a week, with a meal including 75 g blue mussels or 75 g meat. Fatty acid composition in erythrocytes and plasma and 1H-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) metabolomics data were analysed with multivariate data analysis. Orthogonal Projections to Latent Structures with Dis...

This study involved the oral administration of zinc oxide nanoparticles at a various concentration (5 ppm, 10 ppm, and 20 ppm) and study their antioxidant and anti-gout effects on Balb/C mice. Various parameters such as ROS, superoxide, peroxide, catalase, TBARS, RFTs, LFTs, lipid profile and blood count were studied.ResultsZnO nanoparticles at the concentrations of 10 and 20 ppm were significant (P

However, therapeutic evidence of MDR on in vivo model of allergic inflammatory reaction has not yet been demonstrated. The research purpose was to investigate the efficacy of MDR and its active ingredient tannic acid (TA) in ovalbumin (OVA)-induced AR mice model. OVA-challenged AR mice orally ...

Abstract Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by the arthritis of unknown origin and IL6 is a known target for JIA. 20 known inhibitors towards IL-6 were screened and Methotrexate (MTX) having PubChem ID: 126941 showed high binding capacity with the receptor IL-6. The similarity searching with this compound gave 269 virtual screened compounds. The said screening presented 269 possible drugs having structural similarity to Methotrexate. The docking studies of the screened drugs separated the compound having PubChem CID: 122677576 (re-rank value of -140.262). Toxicity and inte...

Abstract Multiple cytokines play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis by inducing intracellular signaling and it is known that the members of the Janus kinase (JAK) family are essential for such signal transduction. Janus kinase 3 is a tyrosine kinase that belongs to the Janus family of kinases. Drugs targeting JAK3 in the treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis is relevant. Therefore, it is of interest to design suitable inhibitors for JAK3 dimer using molecular docking with Molegro Virtual Docker. The compound possessing the highest affinity score is subjected to virtual screening to retrieve inh...

However, a number of recent studies have reported that the burden of cognitive impairment in RA could be significant. We sought to explore the prevalence and clinical predictors of cognitive impairment in persons with RA.MethodsThis is a cross-sectional case-control study with patients with...

ConclusionsWhile many intervention regimens in other studies are administered prior to disease onset in animal models, the current study involves delivery of the potential therapeutic after disease onset. Based on the findings, vamorolone may offer an efficacious, yet safer alternative to conventional steroidal compounds in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.

This study explored the role of central sensitization (CS) pain in patients with various rheumatic diseases using the CS inventory (CSI).MethodsA total of 193 patients of mean age 50.72  ± 9.65 years were included; they were divided into four different groups in terms of their rheumatic diseases. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthropathy (SpA), osteoarthritis (OA), and fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) were evaluated in tertiary care rheumatology/pain medicine se ttings. Disease duration and activity, the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index, the Disease Activity Score-2...

Negative associations between intake of omega-3 (n-3) long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC PUFAs) and risk or risk factors of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and inflammation are generally seen [1-3]. Seafood, especially fatty fish, is the main dietary source of the bioactive n-3 LC PUFAs eicosapentaenoic acid (20:5n-3; EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (22:6n-3; DHA). Fish as a source of n-3 LC PUFAs is not economically nor environmentally sustainable [4]. In contrast, blue mussel farming is beneficial for the environment since excessive nitrogen is removed at harvest and eutrophication of the sea is reduced [5].
