Authors: special issue: “Focus on pediatric nephrology”, Scuderi MG, Spampinato G, Milazzo G, Betta P, Fusco M, Arena S, Falsaperla M, Chimenz R, Di Benedetto V Abstract Pelviureteric junction obstruction (PUJO) due to intrinsic or extrinsic causes is a common problem in childhood. Extrinsic compression by a lower pole-crossing blood vessel can present symptomatically in older children. In these cases, laparoscopies Vascular Hitch can represent a valid alternative to pyeloplasty dismembered. We analyzed the data of 4 children affected by extrinsic PUJO treated at our institution with the laparoscopic Va...

ConclusionThese formulas are suggested to be used to calculate residual size of bone lesion after cystostomy and cystectomy to predict postoperative bone healing.Clinical relevanceThe formulas are based on deliberately simple measurement using only panoramic radiographs to encourage their application in daily clinical practice.

Late injury pattern was classified by Koening’s, radiologist’ diagnosis reports for RIL was reviewed. Logistic regression was used to analyze the predictive model of injury pattern, which was...

AbstractTo evaluate and precisely internal fix intra-articular distal radial fracture (IDRF) using the virtual X-ray and three-dimensional (3D) printing technologies. Twenty-one patients with IDRF were recruited, and the data from digital design group (DDG) and real surgery group (RSG) were collected and analyzed. In DDG, the data from thin-slice computed tomography scan, virtual X-ray measurement parameters, including volar tilt, palmar tilt, radius length (D1), ulnar variation (D2), locking plate position parameter (D3) and distance between key nail and joint surface (D4) were collected. The bone was virtually fixed with...

Imaging with biomechanical analysis augments the clinical examination and improves outcomes by correlating imaging findings with the examination. Plain film radiographs are the gold standard to assess osseous alignment. The biomechanical examination provides information to formulate an accurate assessment. Weightbearing computed tomography scanning is a potentially valuable for functional information about joint biomechanics. True alignment of the lower extremity can be appreciated on weightbearing computed tomography scanning. Soft tissue structures can be assessed with diagnostic ultrasound examination. Acute and chronic...

Immunocytochemistry in a 78-year-old man diagnosed as having systemic metastatic cancer of unknown primary origin revealed atypical cells positive for napsin A and TTF-1, suggesting adenocarcinoma of the lung. However, there was no evidence of a primary lesion in the lung on positron emission tomography/computed tomography or at autopsy. Meanwhile, both the left and right thyroid lobes were firm and grayish white with marked fibrosis. Histology identified a diffuse sclerosing variant of papillary thyroid carcinoma that was positive for TTF-1 and napsin A but negative for PAX8.

This study standardized the methods used in the determination of orofacial injuries in Victorian family violence homicides and informed potential control selection for an analytic study. Dental service contacts with family violence victims may be intervention avenues due to the presence of abusive injuries in the orofacial region. All Victorian family homicides from January 2000-September 2018 were identified by determining the kinship/relationship and grouped by age. A 20% random sample of adult cases, aged 18 –64 years was selected. The median number of orofacial injuries in categories of injury mechanisms/age...
