A random Monday

1. It isn’t snowing here, but the clouds are the peachy-pink that means they are thinking about it. 2. I am writing, writing, writing. The studio is full of scribbled post-it notes, there are lists all over my desk of things I need to find out, and it’s SO MUCH FUN. I should hit 20,000 words today. 3. I have got the crochet bug good and proper. I apologise for anything I might have said in the past that implied that crochet involved little except counting and creating stiff-yet-holey things. My granny square blanket is going to be a doozy. 4. My daughter claims that there should be a special acknowledgement in ‘Breaking Bread’ for all of the people who have had to test-eat my bread experiments. I rise above this. I have liked all of them. (Almost all.) 5. Driving back from a memorial service on Friday, Alan and I talked about planning our funerals, and oddly enough it was one of the nicest and most cheerful conversations of the week. 6. I am having the undiscovered-rooms-in-houses dreams that I only seem to get when I am writing hard. I take this as a good sign. 7. Yesterday morning, I put a chicken in the slow cooker with potatoes, parsnips, carrots, mustard, a lemon and a whole bottle of white wine. Then I went in to the garden and picked rosemary, sage and bay to add to the pot. This was enough of a thrill for me to decide that we ought to put up a greenhouse and grow…. whatever it is that you grow in greenhouses. Alan talked me down. 8. Talki...
